Promoting sisterhood through community service, social networks and real life
A Philadelphia based group of sisters that will meet once a month to do community service or have the opportunity to meet and interact with other muslimas. We will lead by example ,support and educate one another as well as show new shahadas that you can be beautiful and fashion forward while in hijab.
As Muslimas although we are not perfect we struggle for perfection, we strive to increase our Iman and become knowledgeable in Islam but we often overlook the importance of sisterhood and companionship. To embrace, encourage, support and uplift one another we have to do more than greet each other in passing or following and befriending each other on social networking sites, sisterhood is much deeper than that. Muslimas in Motions plan Insha’Allah is to use social networking as a tool to reach sisters around the city of Philadelphia in an effort to build companionship and sisterhood in real life. To really enjoy the beauty of sisterhood we need to understand what’s expected of us: The Prophet (SAW) said, “None of you has Iman (faith) until he desires for his brother (or sister) Muslim that which he desires for himself (or herself).” (Bukhari and Muslim) Allah (SWT) says, “The believers, men and women. are Auliya (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on people) Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamio Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbids (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they offer their prayers perfectly (Iqamat-as-Salat); and give the Zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His mercy upon them. Surely, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (At-Tauba 9:71) As muslimas we should strive to put these things in motion and Insha’Allah Muslimas in Motion will be used as a tool to build stronger relationships in our community.
